Fares and fees

Fares are as follows: General - $2.00 Students through college with current student I.D. - $1.00; Senior Citizens 60 years and above with a valid I.D. - $1.00; Disabled Individuals with County Mass Transit issued disability I.D. or pass - $1.00; Children 5 years and below - Free. You may purchased prepaid discount tickets (general) - $15.00/sheet of 10 tickets, or a monthly bus pass for $60.00; students, senior citizens 60 years and older and disabled individuals with valid I.D.s - $7.50 for a sheet of 10 tickets, or a monthly bus pass for $45.00;

Fees may apply for some items you bring with you on the bus:

  • There is a $1.00 charge per carry-on item larger than 16"X10", or more than one item underneath your seat.
  • Luggage, backpacks, skateboards, and bicycles are $1.00 per piece
  • Transfers are good for two hours from the time you depart from the bus.  Transfers are valid only if you will be transferring onto another bus whose route will travel to somewhere else such as, you are on the Kona to Hilo bus and you want to go to Pahoa. You cannot use the transfer if your intention is to stop for a couple of hours and use the transfer to continue on the same route as the  bus you were on; for example, you were on the Pahoa to Hilo bus and wanted to get off at Prince Kuhio Plaza then use the transfer from Prince Kuhio Plaza to Mooheau Bus Terminal.
