Take Hele-On To The Ports

Hele-On provides limited bus service to the Hilo Harbor in Hilo, Kona Pier in Kailua-Kona and the Kawaihae Harbor in Kawaihae.

Hilo Harbor

Hele-On provides service between Mo'oheau Bus Terminal Keaukaha and the Hilo International Airport via Route 101: Keaukaha.  Additional destinations served includes Aupuni Center, County of Hawai'i Building, Hilo Shopping Center, University of Hawai'i at Hilo, Hawai'i Community College, Prince Kuhio Plaza, Target/Safeway, Walmart/ Walgreens/Office Max/Ross,  Hilo Harbor, Keaukaha neighborhood, Hawaiian Homes, King's Landing, Richardson Beach County Park and Banyan Drive.  This route operates seven days a week.

In order to catch this bus, passengers would need to walk from the Hilo Harbor along Kuhio Street to the intersection of Kalanianaole Street and Kuhio Street.  If traveling to Mo'oheau Bus Terminal, board the Hele-On bus stop at the bus stop sign next to the Oceanfront Kitchen.   If traveling to Richardson Beach County Park, cross the street and board the bus at the bus stop next to Keaukaha Market.

Passengers destined for other destinations beyond downtown Hilo, should consult the routes and system map shown on this webpage. Be advised that service between Hilo and Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park is very limited and cruise times may not coincide well with visiting that park in one day.

Additional local information is provided by the volunteers of Destination Hilo at the Aloha Room at the Harbor or at the Mo'oheau Bus Terminal on Tuesday and Saturday.

Kona Pier

Hele-On provides service to the Kona Pier located at the three-way corner of Ali'i Drive, Kaahumanu Place and Palani Road via Route 201: Kona Trolley, seven days a week.

Additional local information is provided by the volunteers of Destination Kona Coast at the Pier every cruise ship day.

Kawaihae Harbor

Hele-On provides limited service to the Kawaihae Harbor, seven days a week, via the following routes:

75: North Kohala-Waimea-South Kohala Resorts-Kailua Kona

Passengers would be required to flag the bus along the State Route 270 or request the bus operator to drop you off next to the harbor.  Only one trip operates on both of these routes.  In the A.M., the routes travel southbound along State Route 270 towards Kailua-Kona.  In the P.M., the routes travel northbound along State Route 270, towards Hawi.
