Shared Ride Taxi Program

Up one level

The County of Hawai'i Mass Transit Agency provides the Hele-On Shared Ride Taxi Program to all residents and visitors of the Hilo urbanized area up to a nine mile radius from your point of origin within Hilo. The Hele-On bus system provides a great way for passengers to get around inexpensively. But for evening and Sunday trips after the bus goes out of service, when Hele-On bus does not travel to where you need to go in Hilo, such as the Hilo International Airport or on a day when a rider may not feel well enough to take the bus, our Shared Ride Taxi Program provides a lifeline service for you! Through the use of the program, participants may take a cab ride anywhere in the Hilo urbanized area by purchasing taxi coupons in increments of five (5), ten (10) or fifteen (15). Passenger can travel up to nine (9) miles in conjunction with other riders through calling one of the seven authorized vendors participating in this program. Only one coupon per week may be purchased from either the County of Hawai'i Mass Transit Agency, 1266 Kamehameha Avenue, Suite A-2, Hilo, HI 96720, Monday-Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., excluding County observed holidays or Mo'oheau Bus Terminal Information Center, 329 Kamehameha Avenue, Hilo, HI 96720, Monday-Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., excluding County observed holidays.
