Individuals who are interested in using the Shared Ride Taxi Program must complete the Shared Ride Taxi Program Participation Form along with a copy of an ID. 

While using the Hele-On Shared Ride Taxi Program, participants may take a cab ride anywhere in the Hilo urbanized area by purchasing taxi coupons in increments of one (1), five (5), ten (10) or fifteen (15).

When traveling with the Hilo urbanized area, passengers traveling 0.1 to 4.0 miles would be required to use one (1) coupon and passengers traveling 4.1 to 9.0 miles would be required to use two (2) coupons.

Coupons are available at the Mo'oheau Bus Terminal Information Center, 329 Kamehameha Avenue, Hilo, HI 96720, Monday-Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., closed for lunch from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., excluding County observed holidays.

Coupon books may be purchased through postal mail by downloading the order form.   Please make check payable to the County Director of Finance with the attached order form.  You can view additional fare information by visiting the Hele-On Fares.

Expired Coupons are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged.   

Passengers can travel up to nine (9) miles in conjunction with other riders through calling one of the three (3) authorized taxi companies participating in this program listed below and passengers are responsible for coordinating requests directly with the taxi company.  Please inform the taxicab dispatcher / operator if you have a mobility aid and need the ramp, service animal, and or PCA.

Service hours are Monday thru Saturday, 6 a.m.- 6 p.m., additional hours are subject to carrier’s discretion, however, you will be required to pay metered rates.
